Practice Areas

Chris advises businesses with complicated tax profiles – e.g., significant profits and/or transaction volume, global and multi-state operations, subject of a private equity investment/recapitalization, buy or sell side M&A needs, incentive/credit/deferral opportunities, and/or owners with wealth planning needs. Chris adds value by managing tax risks and identifying/implementing opportunities for tax minimization. Chris advises his clients on ownership and management succession issues and serves on the board of directors for certain privately-owned companies (where his firm is not engaged to perform independent attest work).

Industry Areas

Chris serves companies operating in the consumer markets channel – including growers, processors, importers, manufacturers, wholesale distribution companies, exporters, service providers and internet & brick/mortar retailers.

Professional Experience

Chris has served hundreds of privately-held businesses operating throughout the United States, including a number with operations outside the United States. For the most part, these businesses have been based in Northern and Central California, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and the East Bay. Typically, Chris provides income tax planning for such businesses, income, estate and gift tax planning for their owners, and income/estate/gift/GST tax reporting services. Should the taxing authorities choose to examine the filings he has prepared, he typically represents clients in such examinations. His depth of experience allows him to assist clients in defining tax objectives for significant transactions being undertaken and significant events on the horizon, helping the clients to gain a sufficient understanding of the often complex tax laws to make the best choices for their families, fellow owners and businesses.
